Is Drive Thru Cards the Best Thing Ever?

I feel like this is cooler than Kickstarter. Anyone can make a card game, and then sell print-on-demand hard copies or downloadable PDF files for a few bucks. Look at those Eklund Pax games. They're just cards, but they have theme, are complex and fun. Producing and selling something along those lines is in reach of anyone who has the talent and drive.

Have any of you purchased any of their best sellers?

I've bought all of Clowdus's games available there. It's a great service, and they do good work.

I've used them to print decks (for like PnP Dune etc.) and it is top notch quality.

I've bought games from their sister site wargamevault.com. And yes, it kicks ass. Table Air Combat, Table Battles, and the biggest sleeper game of 2017 -- An Infamous Traffic. I'm going to grab Horse and Musket over the Christmas break as well.

I'm eating this shit up and it's dirt cheap. It's my new favorite game store.

I'm almost positive the expansion decks for Shadows of Malice are DTC.

How long did it take to make 176 counters?

I print to cheap paper, mount on adhesive foam and cut with scissors while watching tv or playing another game. It’s pretty quick and super easy.

Ok, last question: What kind of foam is it, and how thick is it if you can cut it with scissors? Thanks!

I use stuff called Creatology that I get at Michaels for a buck a sheet. www.michaels.com/creatology-adhesive-foam-sheet/M10032002.html Comes in different colors. For single sided chits it’s super easy and super cheap. Most counters are single sided, or can be because flips are often for step losses or toggling state. You can make them double sided if you want to, but don’t have to for building prototypes or cheap copies. Just make more single-siders and swap out.

An Infamous Traffic had a need for blind pull (prizes) that had matching backs. I used red foam instead for those counters so they would stand out from the others. The board mounted on white, other chits on Black.

Flipsies can be made with adhesive foam for one side, adhesive paper for the other. Mount one page on the adhesive foam, cut to strips, match strips on the other side with adhesive paper.

How does this work? Can you upload your own files and have them printed or do you have to select what they have on offer? Do they get iffy about copy rights? I have the Warhammer Quest Adventure Card Game expansions that I've been thinking of flipping on ebay, but would like to scan the cards to have for the remote possibility the game actually gets played again.

To be honest figuring out how to do it was a bit of a struggle, but the information and walkthroughs are on the site and available to help you learn.

This is the card specific Basic questions:
onebookshelfpublisherservice.zendesk.com...-Printing-The-Basics

They use a programs that are professional publishing format InDesign or Scribus. I used Scribus and after messing around a few hours you can figure most out with the site's guidance. They do expect you to hold the rights/license to cards even for personal use. I know the art for PnPs usually has a disclaimer that grants those rights and never have tried to print things other than that so no idea how strict it actually is.
