I just played Zooloretto (with petting zoo) with my 13 and 7 year old this weekend. They actually tied for first (same points, same amount of money). My 13 year old is pretty good at manipulating the 7 year old to set up delivery trucks for her (13 year old) benefit.

I couldn't manage to get any concession stands and who wants to see elephants anyway- plus they said I couldn't feed my extra camel to my kangaroos. I am not complaining, its a fun game and easy enough for the littler one and fast enough to hold every ones interest.

I found a copy at the local Goodwill for 8$. Shocked the hell out of me that it would show up in Sticks, Northern Kentucky.

Love the game, hate the monkeys. I wish that there was a replacement part I could toss in instead of the monkeys when it's a 5 player game. The monkeys always hate me, just like Loopin' Louis hates me.

I didn't know you could successfully operate a zoo without elephants until I visited the Toronto zoo last year. At least feeding time with the gorillas totally made up for it.

Still thinking about 10x10 or some variant, but here is the new Ultimatum List . I can't buy any new games until I play each of these.

1. Space Cadets: Away Missions
2. Burgle Bros
3. A Fistful of Dinero
4. Lost Valley: The Yukon Goldrush 1896
5. Eight-Minute Empire: Lost Lands
6. Rattle, Battle, Grab the Loot
7. Epic
8. Zombiaki 2: Atak na Moskwę
9. Migration: Book II – A Saga of Conflict
10. Steam Torpedo: First Contact
11. Quantum
12. Dark Moon

I'm waffling on a few of these, but here's the preliminary list:
  1. Arcadia Quest
  2. Blood Rage
  3. Cosmic Encounter
  4. Survive
  5. Port Royal
  6. Between Two Cities
  7. Roll for the Galaxy
  8. Five Tribes
  9. Alchemists
  10. Terra Mystica
  11. Castles of Mad King Ludwig

This year I failed my challenge, but I still appreciated it all the same. Just having that list in the back of my head prevented me from making stupid purchase decisions. At the same time, I do love me some variety and my collection is large enough to play all on it's own, so in the back of my head I wonder at just having a purchase/trade moratorium for some length of time. I also thought about a 5x20 (5 plays of 20 games) as a way of playing more of my current collection while still preventing purchases. It also has the advantage of "checking the checkbox" much sooner, but you don't get nearly the same depth. Clearly, I waffle, but for now the above list is what I'm starting with.

Given I started after Christmas, given I am just over halfway through my first month, and 9 total plays in makes me think that 100 plays of those 10 games is achievable. However, the realist in me says that my 9 plays have mostly come from easy stuff, and that I haven't touched the 4 games that I expected will cause me the most trouble (a couple of times I have pulled out Mage Knight to play solo, but then put it away as I couldn't be bothered remembering how to play as it has been too long between drinks). If I can manage 30 plays total for those 4 games, rather than 40 I will consider it a victory.

Total as of June 23 - 44 /100 a little off pace. Don't think I'm gonna get those Mice and Mystic games in. Maybe I should replace with Dead of Winter since I;m going to be trading M and M back to a friend. Are we allowed to swap games out?

Nope. Otherwise Pete shows up at your house, eats your food, drinks your bourbon, and beats you down until you're in the dreaded "fecal" position. It's safer to just hang on to that copy of Mice and Mystics for now. Trust me.

Nah, I'll only taint your gladiators' wine with feces. No beatings.

The actual answer is YES. The whole thing was for YOU GUYS to set attainable goals and feel better about owning lots of games.

24 plays - with 8 of them being Dune means I'm doing pretty good. Only 1 TI game is surprising, but last weekend I moved back to my hometown, so now I'll likely be playing a lot more games but with way less control of what gets played. We'll see how that affects the list.

My ten chosen games have stalled out a bit. High Frontier is not exactly my fault, because the only game there currently is reading the latest excuse reason why they have not even sent it to the printers yet. I don't expect to see it before October now.

On the other hand, some games not listed have been getting a lot of play- something like eight games of Zombicide, seven of Shadows of Brimstone.

Went way overboard on some - Trains saw a run where I would get home from work and my wife would want to play a game, so its sitting at 29 plays, while many other stay at zero.

Free time and opponents remain my major sticking point.

West side of the state. Grand Rapids, MI. Not a terribly long move, but I'll miss Detroit and wish I was a bit further up north. But we are in a good spot for the kids with family all over this place.
