It's free, it's fun, and you might even find that Magic players aren't all what you've stereotyped them to be, especially the more casual ones that come to stuff like this. My wife was always terrified of going to a Magic tournament, but we went to this a couple years ago and she loved it more than any other "game store outing" we'd ever done (she also loved the Prerelease she went to a while later; by far her best game-store experiences were Magic tournaments, NOT board-game-meetups).
