Trying my hand at Standard play. Critique my deck? MTG

So the overall vibe at the Dragons of Tarkir pre-release was pretty cool. I had a great time playing different people and wasn't too intimidated with elitist speak and rule snobs. So, with this set I'm going to try my hand at building a couple Standard legal decks to participate in my local FNM. I'd like to hear what some other fellow MTG players think about what I have started. I played this past Friday and it did fairly well. My buddy and I split a box and played a few rounds, though we didn't do the official FNM event. I won two of three with ease, with the first game ending in me swinging with Dragonlord Atarka, Savage Ventmaw, Herdchaser Dragon, and then throwing out Mob Rule to take over all four of his creatures he had been buffing. Basically every time I played any spell, his dudes were getting +1/+1, then I stole them and shoved them down his throat.

Let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions. Probably already replacing Herdchaser Dragon with more Savage Ventmaw which are on their way. Also have 4x Impact Tremors coming, as well as a few other things.

I wish I knew enough about the current Magic scene to help you! MtG was my game for years and years and it looks like it's in a super-healthy place right now.

From that perspective, what I can recommend is go for consistency. You want to get your deck to more 4@ and less 2@ 1@ than you have right now. Unless you are playing a tutor deck that fetches answers (i.e., Breeding Pod or whatever that thing is/was), you want to know what your deck is capable of doing turn over turn. That's not possible when you have no idea what's coming "next."

You also want to play your deck a lot. That is what can make a mediocre or even janky pile of cards really solid--knowing what to do with what you have in a given situation. Practice, practice, practice. In Standard a lot of folks switch to whatever is hot constantly and never actually learn how the decks work. Unless you want to spend a fortune, settle on your deck and develop your play of that deck. I was a green mid-range player. Every new set was evaluated from the perspective of "how does this impact green mid-range?" I could spend money on the juicy stuff I needed and not worry about whatever the combo of the month was. You'll have some bad matchups, but eh, so does everyone. Learn how to pilot your deck and you can even get an edge in those if the opponent is still naive to the deck.
