Anyone play ICE's Middle Earth CCG?

This is my favorite CCG ever.

I played this a lot in High School, and at Scout Camp (lolz). Of course I never had any cards back then, my friend had them all. I was too busy playing Star Wars CCG (which I finally came to the conclusion that I really didn't like - but i had a huge collecteion and loved SW to death back then). Still I had a lot of good times w/ this game.

I picked up all 10 Challenge decks a while back.

I still need to get a couple more Lidless Eye decks to get all the wringwraiths, and i'd like to get some more cards so I can work with more than just the challenge decks.

I also need to get the Map and some of those bitchin lidless eye dice.

I'll probably pick up some stuff from: www.treebeard.com/ he has some nice deals.

I don't want to spend much more on the game though. Just enough to play some decent, fun games.

If War of the Ring (2004) hadn't of come out, i'd declare this the best game about Middle Earth ever. But being #2 isn't so bad.

Anyone else like/play this?

I played it quite a it in it's day and long after. I still look lovingly through my binder sets once in a while.

The challenge decks are really the way to go to get started in this. For a long time cards could be had real cheap on the net but I admit I haven't checked in a while.

The game is awesome. I'd say it's pretty much neck and neck with NETRUNNER for best CCG out there.

I've got the Challenge Decks (essential), a couple of booster boxes of the first set and Dragons, and the oh-so-essential Wizards Guide, which has that dang map in it. If you're looking for stuff, definitely hit up Treebeard, he really hooked me up a couple of years ago. He's really passionate about the game and knows how to get you set up.

I haven't played in a while...it's kind of the MAGIC REALM of CCGs...it's very complex, detailed, and narrative but it's also very rewarding. I love how you can build decks based around stories, characters, or other ideas. Sometimes it doesn't really feel very Tolkein-y (despite all the walking around) but sometimes it's right on the money.

Great game.

I've only played Middle Earth a few times, but I would like to play it more. The rules are really, really difficult, and I find the basic combat mechanic to be somewhat non-intuitive, so it's a tough game to teach. In particular, the agent rules were a really unnecessary and complex addition to the game. But when the game is working, it feels like a big D&D wilderness campaign set in Middle Earth.

I have a few starters from the base set and the Lidless Eye, the challenge decks, and the two Balrog decks, plus I picked up a cheap box of boosters of every set except for The White Hand and the Lidless Eye after the game went out of print.

One of these days, I'm going to try to host a Middle Earth day. We can play the LotR trilogy in the background, and then half of the players can play Wizard decks while the other half play Nazgul decks or one of the Balrog decks. It will be one big battle for the fate of Middle Earth.
