I, personally, don't have any problems with orcs. As long as we all agree that it's a lifestyle choice more than anything.

The majority of orcs are law abiding, peace loving citizens of good will.
It's only a small minority that spoils it for the rest of them

Maybe so, but I still think they should all have to produce their birth certificates stating their origin just to prove they're legitimate fantasy material and not some sci-fi aberration.

Just remember that "orc" is cockney slang for fraud.

"Orc" > "Spork" > "Sporks On Planes Stop Terrorism" > "Fraud"

"Oi, mate, those tossers sure pulled an Orc. If they get pinched, they'll be in a load of Barney. A real kick to the old Jacobs, that'll be, the poor sods."

Never heard anyone use Barney for trouble (used to mean an argument, yes). You need to go to actual London and hear the slang.

Also I am a genuine cockney (but without a cockney accent unless I put on a mockney accent) having been born within the sound of Bow Bells, so I speak with some experience in these matters. As a new born, I was taken down Covent Garden Flower Market and passed around the early morning traders at 4am in a pub (family business was floristry). This really was traditional practice and may still be today.

No one uses the word 'mate' unless you are an Aussie. 'Tossers' is rather old hat these days. 'Pinched' is something Dick van Dyke might say. 'Sod' is something my Nan used to say but it really was primarily used by women. Jacobs is accurate though. Best advice, if you say this shit in the hearing of a true cockney you are likely to get lamped.

Well done on the e-zine.

I was disappointed at the level of foulness. I also didn't find it terribly over the top as thing at BGG had led me to expect.

I must have seen the pre-edited version. I'm glad those editing issues were the function of late nights an binge drinking rather than carelessness. There is a limit to the use of the word 'dapper' on one page. LOL

I look forward to more correspondence from the frontlines.

Nice work and a good read, Pete. I too think this would work better as an annual or semi-annual con report, as opposed to a monthly thing. You're a social guy who thrives on interaction, so it seems like something like a con report really plays to your strengths (as evidenced here).

Barney has meant "trouble" for a long time, and only now means "argument". It also means "double shot" as I have heard in person "Can I get a Barney" as in Rubble, as in double.

Also I am a genuine cock...

I have heard as much...oh wait...there's more? :)

No one uses the word 'mate' unless you are an Aussie.

Funny, the friend I have who lived 30 years in Lancaster before moving here used it continually. His mum was English, and he is English, so I'm guessing that it's regional. In any event, I've had several Kiwi and Aussie friends who use it ceaselessly, and I do as well as I think "buddy" sounds retarded.

'Tossers' is rather old hat these days.

And?

'Pinched' is something Dick van Dyke might say.

Yeah, that was a stretch.

'Sod' is something my Nan used to say but it really was primarily used by women.

I've been told to sod off by my friend's father so many times it's ridiculous. He's a Scot though.

Best advice, if you say this shit in the hearing of a true cockney you are likely to get lamped.

We won the war. We get to revise the language as we see fit. :)

LMAO

Wow, you thought the guy in Oceans Eleven was a good cockney accent? It is the worst I have heard since Mary Poppins. It is so bad it actually spoiled the film. It doesn't surprise me that his use of the cockney dielect is totally incorrect. Barney, BTW means fight and not trouble. The use goes back long before the bloody Flintstones!! One assumes that the people who evolve language would be the people who use it. That would be East Londoners not pathetic pretenders from Hollywood

PS Lancaster is not anywhere near London

Check your history. The Soviets won the war.

Technically the USA did win the war. So did Mongolia.

Isn't that the war where fat rich aristocrats fought against each other to decide who would tax and misrepresent the poor?

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.....

The fat aristos didn't fight. They made the poor fight for them.
