Trashfest Northeast 2014: The Official Thread
The event of course is still in the planning stages but below is some general info you can use to start planning the best damn weekend of your life. Well, maybe not the BEST, but certainly the best your likely to have in the dreary days of November.
When is it?
The weekend of November 7th - 9th. This is Veteran's Day weekend but the holiday actually falls on Tuesday. You may or may not have that Monday off but use that sick day you've been hoarding and you'll get a five day weekend! Game the system, people.
Where is it?
Barring natural disaster it will be held in the same place as last year which is the Elks Lodge on North Park St in Vernon CT. Vernon is about 15 miles outside of Hartford and 20 miles from Bradley Airport. There are hotels of various quality/cost in the area from the Holiday Inn Express to the Motel 6 to several flavors of Marriott.
How Much is it?
I'm not looking to make money. The cost will be the rental for the hall for two days divided by my best guess as to attendance. If Peggy, my glorious wife, wishes to cater the event, then food will be around $40 ($10 a meal) which I think is fair. Those that went last year can attest to her skills. However, I will be setting up a registration thing for people to pre-pay via paypal. Last year, several people stated they would come and wanted the food so we bought and prepared the meals with that many people in mind. When they failed to show up I was stuck with several hundred bucks in food that went to waste. I'd like to avoid that this year.
Heroscape Tournament?
I would very much like to run a Heroscape Tournament on Sunday. I have never run one before though. Somebody on the Fort was experienced with this though I forget who (Mad Wookie maybe?). If you have experience running a tourney and can give me some advice, PM me.
That is all for now.

Also, that is fucking weak shit about being left with food excess. Paypal is a great solution.

If I can make it I'll gladly paypal up front. Food was delicious last time.

Last year we had about 12-15 people gaming through to dinner time on Sunday.

Maybe I'll play something other than Firefly all weekend this year, though I doubt I'll want to.

Did people double up on rooms last year? I'd be interested and willing to bunk with someone if they'd be willing.

Good then you can work on Trashfest Southwest...We have some here!
Also, what kind of job are you looking for. If you have some software skills, my company is hiring.

Yeah, I missed the game thing you and I think Jeff had going on a couple years ago... It's a hike but I can do Austin without much trouble. Certainly easier than flying all the way to the NE like I'm planning for this one...
