Bugs: Recent Topics Paging, Uploading Images & Preview (11 Dec 2020)

Recent Topics paging, uploading images and preview bugs require a patch which has not yet been released.

× WELCOME TO TRASHDOME!

This is part of a series of bloody matches to the death. Show support for your favorite game so it will do better in the fight. You can support it by writing why you think its the better game and more importantly by betting (i.e. voting for) it. Please make it clear for when I check the bets later. You have until Friday when I tally the bets and declare the winner. I will reserve my bet for any tie-breakers.

Although you should be familiar with both games, there is no rule that says you have to have played both of them. The only rule in Trashdome is this;

Two games enter! One game leaves!

X-wing vs. Heroscape (vs. MtG)

Heroscape pulls the best people you'll meet to events, including several members here on F:At that bring their kids. They bring their kids because they can.

That's probably because MtG attracts the awkward teen years and Heroscape attracts kids.

People steal MTG cards all the time, and it seems (from my GenCon experience) it also attracts a lot of goth kids and outcasts. I'm no anthropologist but you may be right.

Then how does a Pete Ruth happen?

I would wager that any game would attract that kind of thievery if it had comparable value in such a compact form.

For instance, my vintage deck, with 60 cards is probably could be sold for somewhere in the $5K+ range. If there were heroscape dudes worth $800/piece that you could easily slip into a back pocket, I am sure there would be problems there too -- human nature, and all that.

As for the other social awkwardness, yeah, no argument from me. That is the main reason I stick to Vintage tournaments -- everyone is older and you don't have to deal with the severely maladjusted.

I'm a master of the "Roadhouse" philosophy: Be nice until it's time to not be nice. Unfortunately, Patrick Swayze is dead, and therefore I have nobody to tell me when it's time to not be nice.

Michael, will you be my Roadhouse buddy?

Is that anything like "barebacking"?

In reply to the initial question....

www.heroscapers.com/community/blog.php?b=2295

Heroscape has been dead since November 2001 and the FANS have released 4 waves of "tournament legal" waves, there's now a "StarWarscape" Master set, and legions of Superhero waves released...all playtested and group-thinked.

Not too many games can boast the rabid fervor.

I can say that just reading this thread got me really excited to change my plans for the day and instead play the fuck out of some Heroscape.

MtG is hands down the best game of all time despite some missteps and issues with the pricing model and terrible fans base, but Heroscape is right up there with it.

X-Wing is great fun too but not even close to being in the same league.

I just picked up a Rise of the Valkyrie box full corner to corner with terrain. Flea Market find, the guy billed it as a complete Valkyrie but likely didn't realize the terrain is more valuable than the intro set. I need to find a map that features lava and build it tonight, because suddenly I have a ton of it.

If anybody wants a cheap copy of Orm's Return (unopened) let me know.

Best analogy is that XWing is the bush league to Heroscape's All Star Team.
