I get a bit of a swagger on when I manage to put up an IKEA shelf.

Basement is coming along; still a bunch of small things and one big thing (laundry/utility room) to go. But the living area, gaming area, and bar are in place so I'm pretty enthusiastic about that. We used to have our games up in a little bedroom and gamed at the kitchen table, which meant longer or campaign games either had to be finished or packed away unfinished. Now once I get a table in stuff can stay set up if needed.

Nice!! We're thinking of building a 25x27 one in then backyard which will be our bar.

But I have no idea when I will get to start that since the shop was Phase One of my wife's grand remodeling plan.

Prepare for 10 years of building and fixing EVERYTHING. We're currently halfway thru my wife's plans and it's fucked up because we're now at the point where when this bathroom is done she wants me to redo the other bathroom, which was the first thing we did. I now know it's a trap.

Next is the main bathroom, then the kitchen, then the master bath. At least those should only take 2 weeks each at the most (I just know I'll regret those words).

Good luck with that. We just prepped for our shower last night, we tried something new: Schlüter-Kerdi. This shit is BAD ASS. Literally saved me 200$ and a day or two. And it will likely hold up forever.

We're doing an aluminum and glass enclosure though, which I hate. I've installed three and have had three that leak. I don't know why she keeps asking me to put them in.

We use Wedi/HydroBlok, which looks to be something similar. It's great stuff.

We ended up taking the tile out of one of our showers and putting in Onyx walls & floor. The tile & grout needed to be periodically resealed and we were constantly cleaning or it got nasty. No amount of Scrubbing Bubbles or intensely applied steam jet ever got the grout looking new again. Not sure if that's due to our water or what, but out it went.

I would like the name of this magical substance. The grout is failing in our basement shower.

When the kids use the hallway shower, it leaks into the basement bathroom. I tried caulking around the drain but the caulk came up and it started leaking again.

The caulk in the upstairs bathroom looks disgusting. My wife colors her hair in there and it's like a monkey with explosive diarrhea just came home from a chili festival.

Quartz Lock 2. I'm sure there are other brands that are a similar product, but this is all we ever use. Definitely read the directions.

Epoxy grout is the shit for grouting toilets. I always use wax paper between the toilet and the grout so I can yank it to clean the line without having to reset the toilet and grout.

The big thing I've been working on this year is my website, THE WOLFMAN'S LOUNGE, with fellow F:ATTIE Josh Look. I've posted a few things from it on The Fort, but I figured I'd give you guys the official shill pitch. It started out as a Podcast that we did for Halloween where we discussed horror movies. Not wanting to be strictly a horror flick podcast we slowly started branching out into other things. Basically, the Podcast usually boils down to Josh and myself talking about some sort of nerdy topic for roughly 30-40 mins. We try our damnedest to keep it ridiculous and entertaining.

We write about all sorts of nonsense. Movies, boardgames, retro-video games, food...it's all done in an informative and humorous manner. We're still ironing ideas out and finding out what gets the biggest response. Honestly, it's mostly shit that people would talk about in these forums. It's a hell of a lot of fun and if you've ever liked anything Josh and I have done on the Fort you'll probably find the website enjoyable.

I'm doing terrain for my own 40k skirmish game. They're 3 inch cubes, just like Deadzone, but they can be butted at each other while maintaining the 3 inch grids. That way they can be spread to cover more ground, or assembled together to create a bigger building.

Texture will be printed on a matte sticker and stuck on them. Minimal hassle.

This is half of the first batch (the second half is the exact same models).

Whether I agree with the politics or not, good to see someone getting out there. Seems the recent election result has motivated more action.

For myself, I've put in for a Naturalist program that works in conjunction with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Basically, I'd be one of the people going in to schools giving nature talks, hosting hikes at state parks, running conservation events, etc. It's a volunteer role, but I treasure our national and state park systems as well as miss working with people on a more hands on basis (currently a data warehouse developer). Looking forward to getting the certification process done.
