So I am teaching myself to play Iron Maiden's "The Number of the Beast" today on that bass Brewmeister traded me a few months back..

The intro bassline is "When the Saints go Marching In". Just played differently.

MIND BLOWN.

It's sort of astounding how much music has been made with the small number of notes we have.

You can play a thousand songs with D, G, and A or C, Am, G.

Thousands of bands have cheated their way through Nashville and LA with 3 chord tunes

Although it will disgust most real musicians, I have gotten interested in the sort of ambient background music made on laptops that is primarily used by Youtube vloggers as background noise. Andrew Applepie is interesting. But my point is that most of this stuff could be made on a cell phone using Caustic.

Pfffft, that's nothing. My mind got blown this week when I realized the poster art for Logan is the same as Schindlers List

Back when I was starting to learn, I was playing death metal. And I realized that it was classical Spanish guitar played up tempo. So I dropped that, bought a Ibenez 12 string classical guitar and never looked back at death the same way again.

There are so many tunes that are a reworking of older songs. It's shocking at first, then it's just expected after a bit.

To my ear, metal has always sounded more derivative of classical than blues/rock. I thought it was just me being weird.
