UFC-BOXING Conspiracy Theory

This is how I know boxing is all bullshit:

1. Money is back on taxes by several tens of millions. He should've retired but he can't or he's going to prison.

2. McGregor is the #1 MMA star - he's the Mike Tyson of MMA. Brash, loud, ultra aggressive, yet smart and cunning. And he's all about that cheddar.

3. Mayweather agrees to fight McGregor and go on this insane promotion tour to build hype for what will be the most watched fight ever for both MMA and boxing.

This was a retirement present to Floyd, who will ABSOLUTELY lose. But he'll get 50 mil, which will pay his back taxes and set him up for the balance of his lecherous life. McGregor becomes "the most dangerous fighter in history" by knocking out a world champion boxer WHILE being the reigning/former two class IFC champion.

McGregor will then go on to do more boxing bouts to help get UFC fans into boxing, and help boxing fans get into UFC. Dana White gets richer, both boxing and UFC get more sales and viewers, merchandise, etc. McGregor ends up as Dana White's heir.

I agree with almost the entire front end. The fight is some serious bullshit and the hype tour is fucking stupid. I only differ with your analysis in that creaky, rusty ass tax lien Mayweather will still probably win this fight IMHO. They're fighting in his specialty.

McGregor was a local champion boxer before his sixteenth birthday. Trained with legends.

I see Mayweather going Mayday. Fourth round or earlier KO

Mayweather will win. It's a boxing match and plays to his strengths. A structured boxing match is not where McGregor shines. He would mop the floor with Mayweather in an MMA format. It would be interesting to see McGregor win, but if he does it will only be so that they can feed us the rematch hype and Mayweather 'un-retirement' match.

Money is on Mayweather.

That's another reason McGregor will win - Money is retired. He's done. He just wants the cheese. If he wins and retires a champion, it doesn't serve Dana, UFC, or Conor. If, however, he loses, Conor (and other UFC fighters) will cross-fight which does serve both boxing and Dana.

If Mayweather wins, there's no upside.

There is no chance in hell that Mayweather loses a boxing match to McGregor. This is a circus exhibition; nothing more.

EDIT: I just read an article that McGregor has been KO'ed while sparring to prep for the fight. Dude has zero chance.

I saw the same thing but stand by my assertion. The whole thing is fixed IMHO. If McGregor loses nobody but Money wins. If McGregor wins, it establishes a cross-brand franchise.

I can't see Floyd taking a dive and tarnishing his legacy, not when he could've made low risk, high reward fights against Pacquioa or Amir Khan. Hell, I think Floyd would sooner face a dangerous opponent like Crawford or Spence than take a dive against a jabroni with no boxing credentials.

Agreed. No chance Floyd intentionally puts a loss on his record when there are other ways he could have made major pay days.

Personally, I hate the very idea of this fight. I love boxing and this is just a freakshow that further delegitimizes the sport in the eye of the general public.

I won't be watching that joke. Can't wait for Triple G against Canelo Alvarez a few weeks later, though!

Jessie Vargas told the press today that McGregor was recently knocked out during sparring. Not sure if that is part of the overall hype strategy.

The positive is that the fight seems to be conceived outside the boxing mainstream, at least to the extent that boxing fans recognize as a freak show.

Agree on Canelo vs GGG. I haven't gotten a PPV in a while, but it's very inviting. Two tough warriors clashing. Great fight in a year in which we're still trying to forget 2016, which was a disaster for the sport.

There have been lots of great fights and huge knockouts this year. I've been happy with 2017. (Too bad the "fuck you" pinstripes alone drowns all that greatness out.)

Joshua vs Klitschko really helped. Best HW fight I've seen since Lewis vs Klitschko.

With regard to the "knockout" I'm with Money

www.unilad.co.uk/sport/floyd-mayweather-...ked-out-in-sparring/

McGregor is all about psyops and this is very likely just a game he's playing.
