Help me pick a laptop

Yeah, I hate all that crap they usually install on there...

Thanks to everyone who offered advice, I really appreciate it. Unfortunately, the gutter on the front of the house is falling off and now I am being "persuaded" into buying gravel for the freaking driveway puddles so it looks like I'm going to have to wait for spring at this point. Washington state, whatcha gonna do, right? *facepalm*

I have this thread bookmarked for when I can save up again so please don't feel like you wasted your time! Black Friday/ Cyber week deals weren't as great as I thought they would be and I just have to deal with the fact that I risk extra expenses now.

I want a cheap laptop with decent battery life and a full travel keyboard. I'd like to stick ubuntu on it, and just use it as a writing/gaming machine now that I don't have a "smart" phone. I have a Macbook but hate the keyboard so much.

I’d trade you for mine in a heartbeat. I havento get one to start making IOS apps.

It's a work machine, otherwise I would consider trading for any decent aluminum body laptop with a good keyboard and battery life.
