Bugs: Recent Topics Paging, Uploading Images & Preview (11 Dec 2020)

Recent Topics paging, uploading images and preview bugs require a patch which has not yet been released.

× Welcome to one of the oldest board game communities on the Internet. That may sound like hyperbole but it really is true.

We are really happy to have you here. Unfortunately, being online we can't bond with you over a game so you'd know right away how happy we are to meet you. For now, you'll just have to take our word for it.

This site has always thrived on lively discussion and spirited but civil debate. We hope that newcomers here will find a welcoming atmosphere where game enthusiasts of all levels of experience and commitment will have something to add to the conversation. You never need to prove your “gamer cred” here. Whether you have been playing board games for a few months or a few decades; whether you have a huge collection or a small one; whether you have been a member here for years or just joined today – your opinion is valued here.

We know that it can be intimidating to jump into a new community and want to assure you that this is NOT the kind of forum where people will tell you that you posted something in the wrong place, or that you should have found an existing thread on the topic, or that you shouldn’t have resurrected an old thread.

So if you find a thread or an article discussion that interests you, whether it is old or new, feel free to jump in. Want to discuss a specific game or board gaming related topic just start a new topic. If you don’t know which forum to put it in, just make your best guess (we really don’t care all that much. It’s easy enough for a moderator to move it or merge it, if necessary).

A good place to get started is by introducing yourself in the “New Members Introduce Yourself” thread (below) or by telling us what you have been playing in the “What BOARD GAME(s) have you been playing?" thread ( therewillbe.games/forum/35-mos-eisley-ca...ave-you-been-playing ).

Have fun, and we look forward to hearing from you.

Manolito from France

Hello,

I've been reading and enjoying this forum and website for some times.

I've been playing boardgames for a long time now, I've played some games like Talisman 2nd edition, Fury of Dracula, Rogue Trader, Tales of the arabian nights, Battlecars, Blood Royale, Dungeonquest, Star Warriors, Blood Bowl 1st edition... when they were released.

Lats years, I tried to go wargaming, but i guess i'm not the military kind of people, and came back to fantasy/adventure gaming this winter.

I just bought "Arkham Horror" second handed - the original 1987 game, which I love (I got rid of my old box some time ago, i don't even remeber why) : I checked the components, the game is complete and in good condition. Then I notice some words written with a pencil at the bottom of the board. First I'm unpleased, but i check what is written :

"Best of luck ! Richard Launius"

An autographed copy of "Arkham Horror" 1987, one of my most favorite game ever ! This totally made my last day of 2013 !!!! I guess the stars were right today !

Hope to share and discuss with all of you in 2014 !

We're glad you surrendered your lurking status to step out amongst the rest of us!

Make sure to not hit the 1,000,000 board game mark in your collection or your government will take 75% of them.

Welcome welcome and happy new year!

Glad to have you on board, welcome!

Great story about AH...I just emailed another designer that I've been talking to that I didn't realize was working with Richard...I just wrote that Richard is like my favorite person in gaming ever. There is NO ONE that loves games as much as he does, when you're around him you can't help but get excited about playing games.

Bought second-hand I presume? Launius is a very nice, very approachable guy. If you get over to the states (for WBC in August) you should have him sign it again.

Welcome aboard.

There's something very pure and innocent about the way Richard loves games. Like, it isn't a lifestyle for him, he doesn't want to go online and talk about games, none of that shit. The dude just loves to meet people, make friends, and play games.
