Gene likes it so sometimes things just get published that he likes.

Missed this one before, sounds right up my alley. Add one more to the count...

This game probably started out as a daydream during a particularly boring game of Settlers of Catan.

I have now played Mystery Wizard a couple times, most recently with 5 players. Listen y'all. This game may look ridiculous, and it is, but it's also a fantastic ameritrash clusterfuck in the best way.

The characters are wildly asymmetrical and only get more so as everyone finds equipment. Literally the only thing most of them have in common is the ability to walk for one action. I was skeptical when Volko Ruhnke compared it to Cosmic Encounter but it's apt: simple rules, crazy character interactions, a central deck that gives everyone even more juice, still enough player agency to make it matter.

It's good, is what I'm saying.

Is that . . . is that the aroma of a sneak-preview session report I'm catching in the air? Smells like freshly baked bread!

On it boss. This Thursday I'm playing it with some other critically-minded folks. Dan Thurot's in the mix too. Gonna solidify some high-quality opinions.

Soon(tm).

I put my money in. This is a game I want to see on the market. I was #295 on the P500 list. Long way to go.

If Dan likes it that will be a huge boost.

Dan's combination session report/preview is up. I am glad to have gotten to be the "fast-flying dickhead".

OK. I'm in. Someone saying: "Combination of Wiz-War and Cosmic Encounter" is about as sure-fire a selling point to me as anything in the gaming universe.

My issue is I already own Cosmic Encounter, Wiz-War, AND Zimby Mojo, and none of them get the table time they deserve.

I gave away my copy of Cosmic Encounter with at least three expansions.
I gave away my copy of Zimby Mojo.
The people I played with didn't appreciate either.
They are getting played now, rather than sitting on my shelf. I have never played Wiz-war, but it has tempted me. This is on my radar, but that art/graphic design is just wow...

This is so my bag it's ridiculous. Consider it backed.

I read Dan Thurot's article last night. It sounded like a version of Zimby Mojo with fewer rules to digest but more assymetry. I am there for that party.

Folks it’s time. Let’s get this game published. I want to see 168 Mystery Wizards pledge by this weekend. All TWBG members are expected to pledge or you will lose your “in good standing” status. Dan’s review brought in like 30+. Let’s make this viral and all that.

Question... these "mysteries" you return. They are essentially Wiz-War treasures, correct? There is no real mystery to solve?
