Here's the story. A guy I know out in California has been buying sets of these, two at a time, having me paint them both and then send one back to him. It's been a good deal. He and his wife use them to play with in tournaments out there, where they are both multi-event champions. Occasionally they send me some of their tourney swag. He's also gone so far as to print out nearly all of the different skirmish maps on vinyl. I mean, it's a beautiful set, the apple of any completionist's eye.
I just never gets played around here. Now, I'm moving to Chicago, and I just can't hang onto it anymore.
Now, I have three options.
1) Find just the right unicorn capable of recognizing the worth of this set, who's willing to pay for it, plus shipping for this 50 pound beast.
2) Throw it all in the trash. Literally, just throw it away.
3) Cancel this ebay charade, find someone who will actually appreciate the set, and sell it to them at a pretty big discount, which will still be a lot.
Anyone know any unicorns? Or have any advice for me?
Edit: tried linking to ebay here, but it didn't work. PM me, I guess, if you want to see pictures of the set.

BGG tends to be my last resort for selling stuff, but yeah.

1) Really hate haggling with people on ebay, and especially BGG buyers.
2) If I can't get a good price on the set, I would seriously consider giving it away, especially to someone like barrowdown, who has a kid who'd like it and who's saving for other things.
3) I'm going to give it another week on the market and see.

I strongly recommend that you break this up into waves based on the original releases.
It’s a little more work, but you will actually be able to sell it AND you will get more in aggregate for it all.
I’ve probably made $200-$300 more on my Heroscape stuff by splitting it out than if I sold it as a lot. Same with Cthulhu Wars. The big all-in lots are hard to sell once you get over $200 or so for them. This set you have here is BIG bucks with the painting and custom materials.

I agree with MB, folks willing to pay you for the value are already into the game. They are not willing to rebuy what they have. My stuff is painted, but I assume not up to your quality.
Out of curiosity, what is your storage solution, and how are the mini's finished?
If I do take the plunge it would be to give the kids my set and have this for when we play together or with friends.

I keep everything I need for skirmish in a big multitiered Creative Options Plano box. Identical to the one pictured here (used for my X-Wing set):
Everything else is kept with minimal organization in the various boxes, which I’ve kept.
It would take a week to sort through all of this stuff and separate it by wave, and might leave me with sets and models I can’t use (but which I’ll still have to haul with me to Chicago). I acknowledge it may be the only way to extract money from this mess, though.
