No eBay APP ID défined in Kunena configurationThis golden albatross around my neck is for sale.

Here's the story. A guy I know out in California has been buying sets of these, two at a time, having me paint them both and then send one back to him. It's been a good deal. He and his wife use them to play with in tournaments out there, where they are both multi-event champions. Occasionally they send me some of their tourney swag. He's also gone so far as to print out nearly all of the different skirmish maps on vinyl. I mean, it's a beautiful set, the apple of any completionist's eye.

I just never gets played around here. Now, I'm moving to Chicago, and I just can't hang onto it anymore.

Now, I have three options.

1) Find just the right unicorn capable of recognizing the worth of this set, who's willing to pay for it, plus shipping for this 50 pound beast.
2) Throw it all in the trash. Literally, just throw it away.
3) Cancel this ebay charade, find someone who will actually appreciate the set, and sell it to them at a pretty big discount, which will still be a lot.

Anyone know any unicorns? Or have any advice for me?

Edit: tried linking to ebay here, but it didn't work. PM me, I guess, if you want to see pictures of the set.

That looks super awesome. I would love to have it (and my mini-human would explode with joy), but I need to save for several home projects over the next three months. Good luck!

Post on BGG, I bet you could move it for some decent cash.

BGG tends to be my last resort for selling stuff, but yeah.

I'll pay shipping if you decide to just throw it away.

Though I'm not serious about throwing it all away, I do have a weird relationship to all this stuff, as I've not spent a cent on it. It's all just labor. That's something I throw away every time I choose to let someone pay me for employment. Its value, like labor itself, is liminal for me.

1) Really hate haggling with people on ebay, and especially BGG buyers.
2) If I can't get a good price on the set, I would seriously consider giving it away, especially to someone like barrowdown, who has a kid who'd like it and who's saving for other things.
3) I'm going to give it another week on the market and see.

Man, this is tempting. I really don't need it though. If there were more cooperative/solo campaigns available in the app, I maybe would take the plunge.

It looks exceptional.

It’s going to be hard to shift this as a lot. The price and shipping makes this an ultra-premium package beyond what most people would be willing to pay. Those already into the game don’t want to rebuy what they have, and those new to it won’t want to go all in - especially since it could take years to get through all of the content.

I strongly recommend that you break this up into waves based on the original releases.
It’s a little more work, but you will actually be able to sell it AND you will get more in aggregate for it all.

I’ve probably made $200-$300 more on my Heroscape stuff by splitting it out than if I sold it as a lot. Same with Cthulhu Wars. The big all-in lots are hard to sell once you get over $200 or so for them. This set you have here is BIG bucks with the painting and custom materials.

If you do split it up in waves I am definitely interested in BT-1 and below and Tyrants plus customs stuff.

I agree with MB, folks willing to pay you for the value are already into the game. They are not willing to rebuy what they have. My stuff is painted, but I assume not up to your quality.

Out of curiosity, what is your storage solution, and how are the mini's finished?

If I do take the plunge it would be to give the kids my set and have this for when we play together or with friends.

The minis are finished in clear matte Krylon finish. These represent several years of painting and show it, though nothing is substandard.

I keep everything I need for skirmish in a big multitiered Creative Options Plano box. Identical to the one pictured here (used for my X-Wing set):

Everything else is kept with minimal organization in the various boxes, which I’ve kept.

It would take a week to sort through all of this stuff and separate it by wave, and might leave me with sets and models I can’t use (but which I’ll still have to haul with me to Chicago). I acknowledge it may be the only way to extract money from this mess, though.

You may be able to sell just the minis separately if the savings is enough to entice existing owners of the game. Maybe the skirmish cards separately as well if someone wants duplicates.

If I was 10 years younger and lived in the same country as you then I'd be a pretty good candidate for this (don't own any of it but would get into it, after getting the bug for it again from the app, if I bought a bundle) - but I'm not so I'll stop wasting space here.
