It looks kinda cool, and has the added bonus of being designed to be portable-- you're supposedly able to play it on an airplane seat tray.

Lemme know if any one of you has tried it out, and if it's worth the pain in the ass of printing.

It does look intriguing as a single player puzzle game.

I didn't really like it much at all. Tediously procedural, and hard enough to not be fun. The early game just clobbers you. It's a total luckfest, and not in a good way. If against all odds you manage to survive the earthquakes, raids, disease, floods, droughts (etc.) for a few turns, then you can start getting the various techs that help mitigate the disasters. I never got that far before deciding I'd rather do almost anything else.

If I want to play a single-player game, I'll stick with Arkham Horror. At least if I die horribly in that, it tells a fun and interesting story.

But if you still want it, do yourself a favor and don't waste the printer ink on the deluxe version until you play a dozen or so games of the basic version. Alternately, you can PayPal me the shipping cost and I'll mail you my copy. PM if you're interested.

It's a pretty cool solo game. I'm actually in the middle of a game right now at work. There's not much printing required at all; I printed out the rules and advance/wonder chart and the event cards (I shrunk them down to all fit on one piece of cardstock). There are 16 cards, total. I think printing out the land hexes and terrain counters would be extremely silly and pointless, since a hand-drawn map is much more portable and looks more like a real map. Don't print out the advance cards, either; it's WAY easier just to use the chart and write down the ones you have (I printed and cut out all the advance cards, but I don't use them).

I like it. Some events can totally destroy you, especial early in the game, but really most of the time you can recover from them. It really feels like a Civ game, which is cool. The rules for the different events are kind of hard to remember, though, so you'll probably be checking the rules a lot the first several times you play. (I should see if someone made a player aid for that)
