Gary Sax wrote: There's something pretty fucked up going on at Z-man, IMHO. A lot of their shit is even returning to designers. Look at Portal, they took back their stuff from Z-man (Robinson) and are doing their own game of the year edition this year.
My game got sent back, but another publisher asked me to send it to them if it got rejected. Within a week of that happening, that same publisher asked us to make some smallish changes and test it out. I'm really jazzed and hoping it gets printed. Love to see it get made, because it is literally one of the best games I've played, and that opinion was shared by a ton of people I had test it out.
Back to CLASH....this is why we can't have nice things:

That sucks compared to the ~$30 it sold for before, but how important is it? If the answer is "less than $58", problem solved.
Sax is right, though. Something dumb is happening at Z-Man. I think both expansions were under-printed, and without the action to print more everyone who didn't get on it early is hosed. Of course, that brings out the completionists and hoarders even more. Then they get even scarcer and more expensive.
"Welcome to wargame-land" is about all I can say.

In the meantime, play all the other great games you never got around to, even if none of the cool kids cares.

Clash of Cultures, on the other hand, I haven't seen in quite a while. I'm glad I picked that one up on impulse.

This shit blows my mind. Z-man is so fucked up, they are holding both of Marcussen's games too!

Prices for CoC: C make me wonder sometimes about trying to sell it. I have and much enjoy the base game and have wanted to play with the expansion (which I got the first time around), but games are fungible enough that I'm not sure I'd miss it. Maybe I could at least sell off the broken plastic pieces that Z-man replaced for me and send my kids to college.
At some point, these games'll get pried away from the husk of Z-man, but it seems like it's going to be a while.

Z-Man is now owned by the Asmodee conglomerate as of about a year or so ago, so it's possible that the CoC expansion could make a return at some point, too.
