2018 challenge Y x Z

So I think previous years we've had people trying to do 10x10 plays and 5x5 and 5x7 and various other numeric combinations. The point isn't what the number is, but the journey to get there. So if you want to tell the world you're aiming for it, let us know what you're aiming for and how you're doing.

I'm going for 10x10, because I've given myself a false sense of optimism by playing a short game four times on New Year's day.

Just to clarify, does 10x10 plays mean 10 plays of 10 games, for a total of 100 plays?

If that is the case, then my remaining games are Pax Pamir, Are Victor, Mu and Much More, DownForce, Fields of Fire and Chariots of Rome. I'm hoping to play 3 x 6 over the next year. (I have some fillers, like No Thanks and Sticheln, but these are the more complex games)

Yep, 100 plays, 10 each of 10 different games. 3x6 seems like a good target, especially if you're excluding filler. Good luck - keep us updated as to how it's going.

I think a 100 x 1 challenge would be the most interesting and you could do it either way. Either vow to play 100 different games once (pretty interesting, and you don’t have to own them) or for Captain Sustainability and anti-Cult of the New, you can play one game 100 times (only have to play twice a week).

I like.

I'm doing an "alternative" 10x10. Instead of 10 specific games, I've chosen 10 categories of games to get played:
Dave's Lacerian Alternative 10 x 10 for 2018

They are:

1) THE OLD FAVORITES: Games that I had already rated 8-10 on Jan 1, 2018
2) REMEMBER ME?: Games that I haven't played in over 5 years
3) ALL BY MYSELF: Solo games
4) ANOTHER CHANCE: Games that I had already rated <6 on Jan 1, 2018
5) MAPS AND LEGENDS: Ten different Steam maps
6) BORAT VOICE MY WIFE: Two player games with my wife
7) NEW HOTNESS: Games that were released in 2018
8) DECK OF MANY THINGS: "Pure" card games according to my insane definition
9) STILL GOT IT: Games that were released before 2000
10) LOOK WHAT I BUILT: Tableau-building games

We'll see how well I do.

I have got an extremely small Trashie group so just happy to get i day each weekend gaming plus a friendly euro group where I don't count the games as most are pretty average to boring (I go for the people) so doing any Y x Z is pretty impossible unless we're down at the 3 x 5 region.
But what I am looking forward to is that a guy in a larger club, who I played a game of TI4 with last month, has set up another game of it in a couple of weeks but also has said he has put it on his 10 x 10 list ... so in 360 odd days I could be reporting back that I played 10 games of TI4 for the year !

Update:
Go on, let's put my neck on the line !

5 x 5

TI4
Star Trek: Frontiers
Secrets of the Last Tomb
Eldritch Horror
Firefly/Forbidden Stars/Runewars

5 x 10
MtG: Arena of the Planeswalkers
DC Comics Deck-Building Game: Heroes Unite
Descent: Journeys in the Dark 2E (including Road to Legend)
Star Trek: Fleet Captains
Claustrophobia
