A "quaint" marketing ploy, hoping to get attention when everyone else is using Kickstarter to successfully generate buzz.
FFG would do better to hold a Kickstarter with a $0 bid level to have the secret game details sent to backers at the end of the campaign. People would see that and they'd get a list of emails to work with.
