Well...I thought no-way until at least after the third movie of the new trilogy.


• Bullseye fire arcs on ?most? ships? All ships? Looked common.
• New maneuver dials with more options taking into account the latest wave's new maneuvers to early wave ships
• Mobile turrets for 360 arcs - although kinda different than the Shadowcaster turret (looks like it selects two arcs at once?)
• Force powers added to pilot's that have Force abilities, which can do...something
• Changes to how actions work...in some way, undefined
• Faction identities re-thought from ground up. First Order and Resistance will be distinct factions, so it's now a 5-faction game.
• No point costs on cards, pilots, nor upgrade icons on pilot cards - all this done in their new free app, so can be re-balanced tuned by the OP group over time
Conversion Packs for backward compatibilty

As long as all and i mean all of my stuff will transfer over with the conversion kits, I'll probably buy into this. But I'm sure I'll have to rebuy one of everything to be able to get the full effect of everything, and well, fuck that.

looks like cards are more limited now, plastic transfers over. So far dice and templates look the same. cardboard is in the conversion kit. New bases for medium ships.

I guess we'll see how painful the conversion process is, but I'm ok with an official app as long as it's not expensive to keep it up to date. The cards get annoyingly fiddly after you have a dozen expansions or so.

Looks like we're getting a price hike with this as well? Xwings are now $20 instead of $15.

Edit: Looks like you're in for $100 if you want to convert your 8x TIE Fighter swarm. Also, seems that First Order and Alliance (new trilogy) are separate factions, and their ships aren't listed in these conversions. So look forward to two more conversion kits down the line!!

Part of me is excited and most of me is just staggered by the brass balls on these people.

I was thinking about selling my collection, it’s not getting much play...this clinches it.

I'm equal parts excited and pissed. I think the game needed an updating like this, but having to buy multiple conversion packs is horrible. If you want to field 3 of your existing X-Wings that's $100 MSRP. WTF.

There are some things I really like- the quick build cards are a long overdue idea. But yeah, I’m looking at over $100 to get upgraded. And I actually don’t have a lot of this ships.

I guess the cost could be offset by selling the conversion cards you don’t need on the ol’ eBay though. And maybe I would go so far as to sell the ships in excess of the kit...

My gut reaction is fuck this shit, as stated above. But I do want to see the updates.

from the Team Covenant interview they mentioned not having to chase other factions for upgrade cards. So maybe that means that newer players getting in can truly pick a faction and stick with it, rather than having to buy everything to stay even...I wonder how long that will hold.

Probably have to buy a new core set. so there's your three x-wings, rather than two conversions.

I just checked with FFG, and they said y'all are required to buy these. You've spent so much at this point it would be ridiculous to stop now.

Whoa easy dude, they stole the idea for this game, yours may be next. Don't poke the bear.

At this point I feel the Star Wars line is destroying Fantasy Flight from the inside. It's a cash cow without equal and just when you think they have done all the scopes and types of games possible with license, they bring it back around with 2nd editions.... The conversion kits seem pricey without any miniatures, I have no clue how much cardboard that box will contain though to justify its pricetag.

On a side note: It's hard getting excited about the things fantasy flight makes lately. I love Star Wars but don't feel the need to own a star wars boardgame... Fallout was one of my latest purchases from FFG. In some way it captures the feel of the setting well but there wasn't a whole lot of game there. In retrospect their in house designs haven't really stood the test of time very well. (apart from Twilight Imperium oddly enough)
