I hope that the new GOT card game (based on the LCG) coming out is a good boxed set. It would be nice to get a balanced set for casual players

Thanks everyone for all the detailed responses to this thread. After looking through the cards of CoC I can certainly see what everyone is talking about. There just doesn't seem to be enough cards to easily construct a deck. I can see why it would be important to buy 2 or 3 copies of the core set...

I'm not sure if I want to throw more money at this game right now. It doesn't really seem feasible to make this into something that one simply pulls off the shelf and plays. Perhaps I'll hold onto it for a wee bit and maybe check out some local game stores to see if people are playing.

Thanks again.

That's been my biggest obstacle - I was never a Magic player, so these types of games are hard to pull of the shelf and jump right in. We've been playing some LotR, and the guy I play with has horrible AP, so I throw together a deck and then wait while he spends 20-30 mins making one before we even start.

Instead of buying multiple core sets, for older games I'd just buy one core plus some expansions - you'll get more card variety without the duplication that multiple cores would get you.

*cough cough* You know how Android Netrunner has 7 preconstructed decks? I've got 7 preconstructed Magic decks for sale in my Emporium thread for a total of *$7*. Think about it.
