Racer Knights of Falconus gets no *love* was created by Stephen Avery
Only death, taxes and the fact that RKoF will not see the table are truly inevitable. If the theme had been Mad Max post holocaust with mutant drivers and a gritty feel, this game would have become a classic AT staple. But instead its fantasy Knights in magic cars for racing for glory(??)
With the theme for a 6 year old, game play for a 12 year old, and the assembly for a adult, this CMG gets no love despite some very cool elements.
If you've not seen them, the cars are intrically assembled from plastic credit cards and sport some really nice graphics.
Every vehicle has: A chassis, wheels, engine, weapon, armament, and a driver. Each of the pieces has stats and special powers. All the pieces interchangeable and can be mixed and matched to create some very cool (or extremely odd) looking cars. The game is surprisingly well balanced with the weaker pieces having more "Fortune points"( I forget the exact term.) Points are used to alter dice rolls for initiative, defense and offence.
The rules are simple and straight forward and easy to play. The standard scenario is to race to different waypoints and score points for driving over them and for blowing up other cars.
I've only had a chance to play a few times but each time has been a lot of fun with cars being rammed, lazered, spun out of control, and blown up.
But...
Its collectable.
Its bady themed.
Its maintstream enough to be avoided by serious gamers and odd enough to be shunned by non geeks. It is a game without a home or friend....
Won't you be RKoF's freind?

I would have to second that no.
White Wolf sent me some promo packs when it came out.
I put the little bastards together and started reading the instructions.About half way thru I abruptly stopped and tossed all material into the trash.
Nice try though.

The rules aren't bad at all. They're simple and direct but combat is done better than Car Wars and with out the static slow pace. Admittedly they're crying for a few house rules to jazz them up, but basic is good for a fast action game.
Sadly the very same attitude is displayed here in ATL. This game must be bad so I won't even *try* it.

Hmmmm.... I gave this thing a quick once over at that other gaming site, and I think it looks pretty cool. If I happen to stumble upon a bargain box full of the stuff at Gencon I defibately think I'll pick some up.
It looks better than pirates of the carribean-- for what that's worth.

I gave it a chance. I assembled one car from a game trade freebie and read the rules.
No.
Yes, it could be interesting if you invested some time in creating house rules. But as I said to myself long ago, if you need to create more than a couple of house rules, screw it and go design your own game.

Cmon Frank, you know that we've surely played worse. If you take it for what is its..a light smashem up with great bits, it compares favorably with many many other games of the same genre.
And no - this game is dead. I'm a CMG FREAK but only after all the other interest has failed. Its more poetic if i love a game that everyone else has abandoned
