Only had to sit on it for 15 years LOL
I hope this doesn't become like The Adventurers, where I lament selling it and can't ever get back what I had for what I sold it for.

Heroscape is back and I cashed out....to the tune of $2017.00. About $1500 profit in 10 transactions.
That's like two guitars!

Peacemakers: Horrors of War for Cuba Libre.
The former had just come in on the Gamefound tides a few months ago and I was fascinated by the concept: a wargame about stopping war. It's a co-op, which have to meet a high bar around here, as I'm not especially fond of that style, but I still wanted to see how this whole concept worked. Unfortunately, it didn't. Not only did it turn out to be very mechanical (assessing the situation and then simply solving it by optimal card play) but all three games we played left everyone feeling zo unzatisfied (/Teddy KGB.) It wasn't just the mechanical gameplay. It was also the lack of theme, since the best way to advance toward your goal was often by letting the two armies you were trying to make peace between kill each other to almost the last man. Plus, the replayability seemed kinda poor, since once you'd played through the few scenarios provided, the suggestion to play them again was to meet this or that goal (e.g. win with zero casualties!) So, I decided to add to my COIN collection and replace a game about making peace with one about the Cuban revolution.
Then I handed off my copy of Hannibal: Rome vs Carthage to our own San il Defanso and my copies of Jaws and Summoner Wars to a couple friends. I bounced hard off the latter, but love the previous two. They still weren't going to compete with what's been on the table recently. The rest:
Twilight Inscription, In the Year of the Dragon, Time of Crisis, Ancient Civilizations of the Inner Sea, Ideology, Alhambra: the card game, Godsforge (with both expansions), Monolith, Vampire: Rivals, Supremacy (with multiple expansions), Samurai Swords, The Mirroring of Mary King, Illuminati, Witch Trial, One False Step for Mankind, Neuroshima Convoy, Tiny Epic Galaxies w/expansion, Tiny Epic Pirates w/expansion, Tiny Epic Vikings w/expansion, Tiny Epic Defenders w/expansion, Cold War: CIA vs KGB, Crazy Karts, Rush n' Crush, Alien Artifacts w/expansion, Zimby Mojo, Cosmic Frog, Remnants, Warhammer Diskwars w/both expansions, Ultimate Warriorz, Assault of the Giants, Hellenes: Campaigns of the Peloponnesian War, Richard III, Hammer of the Scots, Shenandoah: Jackson's Valley Campaign, Angola!, Warriors of Japan, Britannia (AH version), Paths of Glory, Arcane Academy, Rear Window, Libertalia: Winds of Galecrest.
went to Noble Knight for a bundle of cash. I liked or really liked most of those but, again, no sense in them sitting around unplayed when someone else could be getting some use from them.

It sounds like they have too many products for stores to want to carry so they are going to stop printing older products. They are breaking things down into "Current" (last 2-3 years) and "Legacy" (everything else). This means that many popular heroes will go out of print so they will develop completely new versions of them.

I picked it up in trade back in November, and immediately fell in love with it. I can easily play games at the dinner table while my wife watches tv at night.
The trade was a pretty mixed lot - I have most of the stuff that is in immediate danger of whatever that garbage FFG is pulling, but I am missing Rise of the Red Skull, and don't have much of the Guardians stuff.
I did get all of the wave 1 heroes, Green Goblin, and Sinister Motives, so at least I'm not super screwed as those are the sets that are going for ridiculous prices on eBay.

I loved War of the Ring. It was my first acquisition from this little outfit called Fantasy Flight Games, way back in the day. It was card-driven before that was really a term, since you could use the cards to do two quite different things on the map; one of them military-oriented and the other one more general. The two factions functioned in totally disparate ways. The board was beautiful and the pile of minis were great. Spread out on the table, it was an eye-catcher every time and almost always produced great (and varied) endings. But I haven't played it in forever because it takes a long time and if I'm setting up a long session for something, it's usually going to involve more than one opponent. So, it's been sitting on the shelf as a hallowed keepsake... and I'm kinda done with all that. If it's not getting played, it's not staying.
A couple weeks back, someone offered Mariposas and the Firefly: Blue Sun expansion for War of the Ring: Battles of the Third Age. I took it. An expansion we rarely used for an expansion that will see play, as well as a game I've been wanting to try for a while? Done.
Last night, I offered Amun-Re for Versailles: 1919. This morning, the counter-offer came back of War of the Ring for Versailles: 1919. Took that, too. As noted, WotR hasn't been emerging from the pile and Versailles will because it's the kind of above-the-table game that I've been wanting to play more of lately (like John Company and Weimar.) Amun-Re was probably a bit of a lowball offer, if you think about "value." Versailles is probably a bit of a lowball coming back, if I was concerned about that, but I'm not. It means I'm handing off one of the former "treasures" of my collection, but it means it's going somewhere that it will get played, in return for something that will also get played and that's what's important to me right now.

Shakespeare
Shakespeare: Prospero
Coming in:
March of the Ants Minions of the Meadow
March of the Ants Empires of the Earth
I'm a diehard Bard fan. I've performed in his plays and always try to see at least one among the various regular theater groups in our area (already have tickets to see Richard III, Macbeth, and Merry Wives of Windsor this summer) every year. But this game just really didn't work for me. It was basically a theater production Euro that had the "Shakespeare" label slapped on it because that's what most Western audiences automatically associate with the theater. But it could have been any production company, up to and including the modern era. There are nominal Shakespearean roles introduced in the Prospero expansion, but it still didn't present anything that rang of his works. Outside of that, it was a pretty dry Euro.
I traded for March of the Ants last year and the couple plays I've gotten have been solid, especially as it's a very heavy interaction game, which I tend to favor. But all of the talk I've seen is that Minions, especially, helped solidify the game and Empires was another layer of interest/complexity if you wanted that, as well, so I'll be interested to try it with some more chrome attached.
