Tomorrow I see Teseschi Trucks Band, Drive-By Truckers, and Marcus King Band.

Taking my 17 year old to her first legit concert outside of “X on Ice” and musicals.

Marcus King is the real deal. Been wanting to see him for a long while. Saw Susan Tedeschi play with BB and Buddy’s guy back in my twenties and she was the star of the show.

So jazzed. Hope my melodramatic kid doesn’t fuck it up for me or piss off the wife with whining. I will legit roofie her ass and put her in the trunk.

It's a bad sign when the Bay City Rollers cover song you love is 25 years old.

I saw them on on the Loveless tour. It was transcendentally LOUD.

Yeah, it was nice and loud but not overbearing. You couldn't feel the vibration in your body during the wall of sound segment like in the past. I could feel my bottled water vibrating though. I only noticed one couple walking out lol.

They’re super fun.

I’m seeing Pallbearer this Thursday. Their record “Heartless” was my favorite record to come out last year. I saw them open for Baroness a couple years ago, they were good but that record hadn’t come out yet.

Just got back from the Teseschi/Trucks - DBT - Marcus King show.

Marcus King and Derek Trucks stole the show. Susan barely played but her voice is still awesome

While I was sick when they came through down for their previous album, but some coworkers who went said the show was probably "best" for 8-13 year olds. It was just the right amount of dark and showmanship to appeal to that age group.

I just saw Public Image Ltd. - fucking great. Got there a little late but just in time for “Memories”, my favorite PiL song, all the hits and sufficient selections from Metal Box- one of my top albums. .”Flowers of Ronance” was the unexpected highlight.

Lydon was amazing- you’d never knew he hung out with Vivienne Westwood and was at the vanguard of fashion, he’s a big ol’ 62-63 year old dude in hobo clothes now. His shrill ass voice was in fine form and he was clearly happy to be performing.

At one point I just kind of stared at him and thought “this guy sang Anarchy in the UK and was Sid Vicious’ best friend”.

It was definitely a grown folks/music nerd show, that’s for sure. No smoking, comfortably loud, and over by 11.

I picked up Dinner Suite tickets at the Fox Theatre in Detroit to see Christina Aguilera on Saturday. She has an incredible voice and her new album is pretty decent.

I bought my wife Greta Van Fleet tickets in Detroit for Christmas, and we went last night. I had only heard Highway Tune, but my wife is a fan.

The show was good, not great. The band put a smile on my face, both because I like the music, and because it was a '70s throwback sort of show, complete with solos (drum, guitar, and Hammond organ), fog, and the smell of weed. Their music sounds like their inspiration is Zeppelin, but most of it is more like Houses of the Holy or Physical Graffiti than Zeppelin's earlier stuff. Unlike a band like The Darkness, they play it straight and I think they mean it.

Among the downsides were that the band stretched about 60 minutes of material into 90+ minutes of performance. So the solos tended to last a little too long and occur a little too often. Another problem was that the lighting was subpar. Minutes would pass where they had dim blue lighting and fog, and no good look at the band. Those are relatively minor nits, though; their fans loved it, and I enjoyed it.

A note on the venue: the Fox Theater in Detroit is completely insane inside. www.nps.gov/nr/travel/detroit/d22.htm and www.historicdetroit.org/galleries/fox-theatre-photos/ .
