Role Playing in the Car?

Role Playing in the Car? was created by Mr. White
It dawned on me last night....why don't I role-play in the car with the kids on road trips?
We road trip frequently. Sometimes we'll do audio books, sometimes I'll read aloud a choose-your-own adventure...but why not role-play?
I figure, I can download a dice app on the kindle, and put that between them to use for their rolls. No dice getting lost or falling all over the back seat.
This seems like a great use of time.
Has anyone done this?

- A live groundhog counts as 1.
- A dead groundhog eliminates all your opponents' groundhogs.
- A bad identification (such as live cat, dead raccoon, etc) costs the caller half their groundhogs (rounded down), split amongst all the other players (rounded down).
- Most groundhogs win.

I guess just make sure you're not the one driving?

The Parsely games are good for this. No dice needed, short enough to keep in your head.
They're not really relevant RPGs, but close enough for a drive.
Only caveat is that your kids probably don't know enough old Zork games to get some of the charm.

Sherpa was created exactly for this type situation. I've used it a few times on hiking/ camping trips. It does the job.

My son will do a version of this with his siblings on long trips, and sometimes on scout outings, but it's mostly just him deciding what happens as they make choices.
