I’m very tempted by the Warhammer 40k 4x game, Gladius.

Not a great year for vidya games.

Well, I thought this might be a good time to try another huge franchise to which I've never been introduced, so I bought Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion as well. I almost went with Morrowind, but it sounds like it is not a particularly user-friendly game for an introduction. Skyrim is twice as much, and there will of course be a winter sale later this year.

Once again, my Nintendo fandom allows me to discover video games everyone played to death a decade ago.

Oblivion is great primarily because it is one of those Bethesda games in a distinctly original non-D+D fantasy setting. It's why I'm one of those people who doesn't think they've ever matched it.

I don't know what to buy. Want State of Decay but worried about the learning curve. At this age, I'm a really spoiled gamer.

What's good city building games that aren't punishing and not overly serious/depressing?

I had fun with Project Highrise. Not really city building but it’s building building.

I think Morrowind is superior to Oblivion, mainly because I hated the actual Oblivion gates.

Got the chance to play Pyre a bit, and definitely recommend it. The world is weird and fresh, the writing is good, and no one knows how to use music in a game like Supergiant.

People have compared Pyre to NBA Jam, which is kind of true--imagine if NBA Jam was also an RPG and took place on the astral plane and you'll get a good sense of what playing the game is like.
