Can food increase thematic atmosphere?

Would it be going too far to eat a bowl of rice while playing Shogun? What about drinking red wine while playing as Dracula? Or snacking on some spice while playing Dune? Assuming you can find some that is. Would you eat MRE's while playing ASL? Drinking beer while playing Red Dragon Inn seems obvious. Does the right food matched with the right game make a difference or is it too borderline larping to be cool?

That is the RIGHT TRACK!

Sounds great, it helps creating that shared space which makes an evening special and to be remembered.

All I know is shrimp, mango salsa, and strawberries dipped in chocolate fondue sure made Liebe & Intrigue a whole lot more palatable to my gaming group! :)

Creamed hamburger and baked beans would be appropriate for a long day of playing EuroGames.

The farts might be the most fun thing you do all day.

Sure! Eat some brains while playing Last Night on Earth. Eat a bowl of swamp sludge while playing Primordial Soup. Perhaps some nuts and bolts while playing Robo Rally.

  • rum for Pirate King
  • Haggis for Hammer of the Scots
  • chewing tobacco (or corn/coffee with sugar for the less adventurous) for Puerto Rico
  • bugs for Nexus Ops
  • M&Ms for Go (be careful)
  • mac & cheese for Ticket to Ride because you're probably 10
  • turkey giblets - no utensils - for Last Night on Earth

As long as you keep said food far away from the games because you know well.....

The food will certainly give eliminated players something to do, thereby increasing theme for them.

Exactly. Plus all those brown games deserve a brown smell.

The food *is* the elimanted players. Most of my playgroup is missing limbs just because we're snackkers...

Do you think it will work with The HellGame?
