I thought this idea, which I will later take credit for if successful, deserved its own thread. Until someone takes point on it we can at least discuss the basics such as best location, time of year, types of events wanted, etc. Let's see where this goes.

Although it isn't exactly a central location, it would be awesome if the first F:AT Camp was held at the Fantasy Flight Event Center. Despite recent missteps, they have done a lot for the AmeriTrash segment of the market.

Some notes:

1) It should, in fact, be called F:AT Camp
2) Steve Avery should be the Grand Marshal of the parade
3) If it's at the FFG event center, then it would have to be Terrinoth themed and dice would have to be checked at the door
4) If it's not in Atlanta or within an hour's drive of Atlanta. I ain't coming (rule 55.4.3a- "Barnes does not go out of town to game").

Shit, I just want to see the whole rulebook around your gaming proclivities.

They posted that at The Smoking Gun a while back:

I hear Australia is an awesome location. Even Ohpra is going there.

If only someone knew of a state with a depressed tourist economy, with lots of empty hotel space, where you can buy alcohol 24/7...

If only such a thing existed.

(hint, hint)

Hey, one of our main industries is even (publicly referred to as) gaming. And we blow up nuclear bombs.

However, I would try to make it to F:AT Camp wherever it is. Australia is right out.

You know guys, Atlanta isn't such a bad idea...

1) Strong base of gamers very active in the community.
2) Same said gamers are already used to the organising/participating or
organising of local events big and small.
3) Online friendships can help ease the financial burden of travel by having
the cash strapped or out-of-towners/across the ponders sleep over.
4)Knowledge of local hotels and inns could possibly facilitate booking blocks of
rooms.
5) I disagree with any affiliation, of any kind, with any company. If sponserships
ever become an eventuality--fine-- but I NEVER want anybody other than attendies
deciding what happens and how.

I always thought that it was the "boob" in "boob&bomb" that separated F:ATties from the animals. I humbly suggest Hawaii.

Failing that, I request that it be planned many months ahead of time so plane tickets don't cost a million dollars.

One of these days I'm going to go party in Australia and we are going to PARTY LIKE ROCK STARs. and we'll even game a bit.

I think the greatest concentration of gamers is in the N.E. If some one wants to coordinate things up there then we'd probably have the best turnout.

Atlanta is second best. It is a hub city for several discount airlines and we have quite a few gamers here. If you watch airfare sales you can go just about anywhere for less than $200. Launius has offered his place for gaming. The main clubhouse holds 40 and the annex can hold another 40.

Mercer has hosted gaming before and it can hold 200 though we've never topped 125.
There are lots of hotels in the area, though I can sleep 4-6.

Avery, you'll just have to intoxicate or knock out (your choice) Barnes and drive him to FAT CAMP where ever it's going to happen. Problem solved.

I would be interested. Living in the middle of the prairie means I gotta travel wherever. Not having met any of you in the flesh it would a little strange to be staying at someone's house.

A major metropolitan area that easy to get to would make the adventure smoother.

Atlanta as a flight hub is a good point.

If I go to Australia I'm not going to spend my time huddled over a board, that's for sure.
