Playing Bloodborne (I'm weak). Just downloaded Pillars of Eternity, the Baldur's Gate inspired game that I kickstarter a million years ago.

the whole reason I upgraded to XBOX ONE was because I couldn't get out from under the backlog of games I had to play on my 360. But now, Magic 2015 has become such a time sink (due to a glitchy persona/title not unlocking which is driving me OCD completionist mad so I have to keep playing the game), that i'm starting to fall behind and not play some great games I own (Rayman Legends as one example).

Because the upcoming Magic Duels: Origins is going to be free-to-play, I have a feeling the grinding will be insane so I might be playing that for an entire year possibly. I finally broke the top 300 in ranked in Magic 2015 so all this playing is making me better at least.

On smartphone, I can't get enough of Magic Realms (same game as Elemental KIngdom). Love it.

that's all I'm playing.

I've been playing Bloodborne over the last two days. So far my expectations have been far exceeded, a fantastic game so far, shrouded with mystery and gloom. I've made it through to Old Yarnham so far, and have taken a break to help people with a certain boss in the previous level. All games should include a sword that converts into a giant sledgehammer. Us Bloodborne players should get a co-op thing going at some point, I'd reckon it would be quite fun.

I've played about two hours of Pillars of Eternity and I've really enjoyed it so far. Baldur's Gate and Torment were my defining PC games growing up and PoE is very reminiscent of them. I'm playing a Wizard, like I always do in cRPGs, and I'm finding it quite satisfying even at level 1. With both this and Wasteland 2, and Torment: Tides of Numenera on the horizon, I've got a lot of RPGs in my future!

Heard about some nasty bugs in Pillars, so be careful out there.

Also, we should try to hook up some Bloodborne, I don't have the proper bells and shit and have just started, but I hear there is now targetable co-op.

Friend me on PS4 if you haven't, most of the time my wife is just watching amazon prime or whatever but I"m on ocassionally. Username is garysax.

Hmmmm maybe I'll wait for the inevitable giant patch to come out in the next few days before I play then. I usually do but I'm just so excited to dig into this game.

I've heard the opposite re: bugs, so please elaborate.

Played the intro and I am just squeeing all over the place. Hopefully it holds up....

Been playing a lot of Cities:Skylines since it was released. I'm trying to remember the last time I played a city builder, and I can't even think of when it would have been. Maybe SimCity2000? Anyway, I'm loving it, though I still suck planning traffic flow when I add on a new addition. Always have to go back and tweak it (most of time destroying a couple of blocks as I change the road sizes) or add on to my gross ass highway bypass system running through the city. But damn, it is pretty to look at.
Built a small, bus only loop between my cruise ship terminal and a rail station with some parks to entertain the tourists, went away to work on another part then came back to see the parks overrun with muggers and the terminal overflowing with garbage - now my ~500m loop has a police station, fire house, medical centre, and a garbage dump/incinerator. That must look weird for the tourists.

A friend gifted me a copy of Frozen Cortex

Its a sci fi esc football (American) game where you plan your turn then resolve it simultaneously with your opponent. I liked the predecessor Frozen Synapse a shooting game but I find this one really stressful with no pay off. The interface uses neon colours a lot and i often can't tell my players from my opponents, also the side you are shooting toward changes and i often forget which it is. It has a slightly weird non intuitive ruleset and at the moment I find it more stressful than fun. If anyone has it and wants a game though, pm me.

I think I'm nearing completion of the Claptrap DLC for Borderlands the Pre-Sequel. It's good; not Tiny Tina good, but good.

I was almost done with 999. Then my son deleted my save. Serenity now.

Assume I wrote like 3 paragraphs on how Bloodborne is awesome but really hard and not for everyone in this space.

I heard what I consider to be the best "Like this game" analogy for Bloodborne I've ever heard on a podcast yesterday. Bloodborne is 3D Castlevania 1 and 2. That description is almost perfect---gothic environment, lack of explanation, difficulty (from 1), repetition and pattern recognition, non-linear exploration (from 2). I will be using it for anyone who might have played those games.

re: Pillars bugs. Someone reported broken progression that they couldn't finish the game. And then this, which is yikes:

Catching up on some unplayed 360 games recently.

South Park: The Stick of Truth

Whoever thought of taking the framework of Paper Mario and applying it to South Park is a genius. Hilarious game that's as funny as the movie or the better seasons of the show (I hurt my chest stifling laughs at 3:00AM when I first made my way to Canada). There are a couple of frustrating gameplay niggles but I loved playing it from start to finish.

Portal 2

More Portal. That's a good thing, but it doesn't have that refreshing feeling the first one had when I played it.
