Yeah, very optimistic about Emma Watson and the movie in general- it looks awesome.
As for remaking it live action...well, it has been TWENTY FIVE YEARS since the animated film! I definitely don't mind a refresh, but I hear you on Maleficient- I wouldn't have minded a different angle or perspective on it. Like maybe a Gaston story with Gaston played by Glenn Danzig or something. I liked the live action Cinderella too.
I could care less about whether Disney does things to make money or not. I like what they do in general, and I hope that it makes the many very talented folks that work for them lots of money. Disney stuff is a great opportunity to check the cynicism at the door because they turn out very high quality, very entertaining content most of the time and as far as corporate brands go, they are the one that I think actually stands for something culturally.
