...

I've been pretty quiet lately as I've had to focus on the business a bit more to keep things running afloat.  Been trying to update Starlit Citadel's bloga bit more often with more interesting business articles.  Obviously, that means I don't get to play as much, though I got a chance to try out both Castle Panic in the beginning of February (quite fun, though I do want to try it again first before I commit) and had a game of Descent recently.

The main problem with the business is that it's doing so well that I need to be on it full-time and a bit, but not well enough that hiring someone else is worthwhile.  Part of that problem is just the additional cost of hiring someone who's an employee and not a contractor.  With both EI (Employment Insurance) and CPP added in, a minimum wage employee starts costing $10 per hour.  On top of that, to make sure all the paperwork is done properly, I need to upgrade our accounting software which costs nearly $400 by itself.   And the fact is, I really only  need about 10 hours of help a week right now.  Well, correction -  I can always use more help, I just need10 hours.

Of course, hiring someone to help out a bit more means I can focus on the marketing side that will hopefully generate more revenue.  But as you can guess, there's never any guarantee.  So I'm kind of spinning my wheels right now, trying to decide if I want to toss the dice and hope for sufficient revenue gains or bite the bullet and keep working long, long hours.
