Patchwork
How did I get it? I just ordered it off...

You walk in the room. It's where you keep odds and ends, like your seaturtle collection and your grandmother's quilt. You flip the light switch, but there seems to be no power. You quietly ask yourself, "Why do I own this?"

Qwirkle is also really useful to have because you can play a tonne of other games with it. Especially if you combine it with an allpurpose deck of cards like a a Rage deck or whatever. I don't play Qwirkle a lot but it goes with me whenever we travel.

My brain on Qwirkle, in 2012.

That CAT scan slice was looking from the bottom, up, so the blood was on the left side. That's the side that deals with logic, ordering, categorizing, and a bunch of other things that end up being used in parsing game rules. And that is not an image of a well-functioning left hemisphere of the brain.

As part of occupational therapy, one of the therapists would sometimes drag a bunch of us left-side-hosed folks together to play a game, and one time it was Qwirkle. She explained the rules, but at the time the rules would just refuse to stick for me. She'd explain them, it would be my turn, and I'd stick a tile up there at random. My inner voice was telling me, "No way are these rules that hard," but that didn't help me understand them.

Luckily/blessedly, almost everything came back. For the most part, the rules stick again. And one of the first games I bought when I got out was Qwirkle. I don't play it much anymore, but I'm not getting rid of it.
