Looks like this is the sort of Oath-lite follow-up sci-fi empires game from Leder. Looks good, I'll preorder it because right now I just trust Wehrle designs. It does seem to address a number of big issues I have heard others have about Oath... it has a limited arc, less complex game, is much less open ended, etc. That makes me slightly less interested in it, tbh, but then I'm a huge Oath lover and I like many of the things other people don't like about it.
Anyway, we'll see!

For the past year, I've been working on a new title for Leder Games. It's still got a long way to go, but it's star… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

I’m with you, all of the changes are not things I would’ve requested but if the fixed legacy structure allows the game to result in even wilder asymmetry/states as promised then I can certainly get behind that.

It sounds good and likely more accessible than Oath, which I've found people struggling with because it lacks that definitive end-point they are used to working toward, plus the concept that passing over an attempt to win in order to think ahead to the next game by either allying with a potential victor or degrading the victor's position is just a touch too wild.
My favourite bit about that tweet however was discovering that Adrian Tchaikovsky is following Cole, it's got to be a positive sign when an award winning author is seeing value in these narrative constructs!

They had insanely positive review on polygon a couple weeks ago, which must have just been a huge cash register sound in Patrick Leder's ears.

The elapsed time on Twitter between Cole unequivocally stating this game "supports only three or four players" to someone asking for a solitaire mode was....
...3 minutes.
