Normally at about this time of the year I have a compiled list (or am working on compiling a list) of movies I'm excited about. For some reason this year I'm just not that excited. I can't think of the last movie I saw that I heard about before I saw a preview on tv, nor is there anything I'm really excited about.

Yeah, I'm kind of the same way...even stuff I was mildly interested in I've sort of tapered off in terms of interest...I didn't bother to see most of the stuff I thought looked like fun. Then I rented a bunch of movies to catch up on stuff like 3:10 TO YUMA, AMERICAN GANGSTER, and THE MIST and wound up disappointed (although THE MIST had some very serious potential it never delivered on).
IRON MAN looked kind of fun for a while, but at this point I'd rather be blinded than see another CGI superhero-fest with quriky one-liners. And the Sabbath song in the trailer is just so...not clever at all. At least DARK KNIGHT will have some grit.
I'm just not as interested in what's coming out any more I guess...I am still pretty hyped up about SPEED RACER, it looks like total pop art, like a Dave LaChappelle photograph come to life. I mean, if your whole picture is going to be CGI you might as well go balls out and do something surreal, you know?
Lately I've just been watching THERE WILL BE BLOOD. It plays a lot better at home than in the theater, and my like for the movie has moved more toward love. There's some really brilliant nuances to the movie, and even though it's not entirely successful I'd rather see a film that takes risks and fails than something that plays it safe and succeeds.
And don't get me started on that CLONE WARS trailer...it looks like total shit.

Agree. Superhero films are just to 'standard' these days.
The Watchmen movie really couldn't be comming out at a better time.

Hi, I heard there's this movie coming out sometime around Remembrance Day, it's directed by someone I've never heard of, and some people have questioned the casting. I think it might be called "THE ROUTE" or "THE HIGHWAY" or something like that. Has anyone heard of this movie?
