VR / Google Cardboard, anyone?

VR / Google Cardboard, anyone? was created by Grudunza
Anyone been trying out the new VR stuff? I've been hearing about it for quite a while and assumed it was super expensive (the upcoming Oculus Rift viewer is like $500), but I found a Google Cardboard viewer for $10 on Amazon and figured it was worth that much to try out. And it's cool!
The basic app is free, and then you can get other apps (the main one is called Within) that have VR content. So far it's all been free and pretty fun to experience. The Within app has several different VR vignettes, like a Mr. Robot scene, a U2 video, the Seinfeld monologue from SNL's anniversary show which is interesting because you can look around and see all of the celebs in the audience, a really cool underwater experience, and a bunch of other stuff. There's also an app called InMind, with a simple game where you focus on areas to blast neurons in someone's brain. There are also VR connections within the Google Street View app that let you look around at stuff.
Some of this stuff feels a little primitive, like the first tentative steps of something that will probably grow in application and scope, but I can appreciate where things could go. It's also not something I'd recommend doing for more than 10-15 minutes at a time, because it does mess with your balance a bit (or at least for me it did).

Replied by hotseatgames on topic VR / Google Cardboard, anyone?
I used an early Oculus Rift once. It was pretty neat but a couple of the games / experiences made me motion sick. I'm sure the version they ship now is much better. I haven't tried the Vive, but that's the one I'd get if I was going to get one.
