Hmm. I've narrowed it down to Cutthroat Caverns or Lifeboat or Lifeboats. Anybody feel strongly for any of these? Bohnanza's wacky theme just doesn't cut it for us.

Lifeboat!! Read the thread on it for more information. I've taken it camping before and explained it to non-gamers fairly easily. Portable even with expansion.

My absolute favorites right now are Call of Cthulhu the LCG and Neuroshima Hex... and awesome area control combat game that plays fast and is extremely portable.

Not AT, but the Catan card game is very cool and interactive with a lot of screwage. Only for 2 people, though.

My favorite AT games with a small "footprint" are probably Ca$h 'n Gun$ and Nexus Ops. Of course, any card game would have a small footprint, too.

Risk Express - Leave behind the dicebowl and it'll fit in your pocket.

How is Bohnanza AT-friendly?

It's not, it's clearly a filthy euro and only for losers because AT is singularly defined as needing to not have lame beans in it. And of course, one can never like a game that isn't pure plastic AT.

Or you know, you're just a moron troll... munch munch.

Why is it I want to talk about games and you want to talk about your troll fixation?

I wanted to know how Bohnanza (a trading game) is considered AT. I like it but I have never considered it AT. Has the AT definition changed that much?

Why don't you go ahead and define it for us then.

Albeit I'm late to the suggestion party, here's my two cents:

MiniMonFa - (2 players, up to 4 with the expansions)

Dragon's Gold - (Yes, a filthy Euro, but you kill dragons and then argue about who gets what! Also, they have a magic item that ALLOWS you to steal from a hoard!)

Dungeoneer Series (I have Tomb of the Lich Lord and it's fun).

Star Force Terra I have the 3W version, it got a lot of play during college.

It's clearly not AT -- no player elimination, no fantasy/SF/horror/war theme, etc.

But it's AT-friendly, in that it has a lot of things that appeal to AT fans: high interaction, negotiation, and possibilities for collusion, deals, and betrayal. The game is just simple enough to provide a framework for interaction, but the players must provide the rest. With a stereotypical Euro group, this game will suck as everyone quietly thinks and analyzes the probabilities and tries to track the cards. With a typical AT group, this game will rock, as people yell at each other and try to drown out counteroffers.

Thanks Kevin! That makes sense. Have AT-friendly games been discussed much here? I'd be interested to see what people think about it.
