I played "Diamant" recently with my group and it was a big hit! I have praised the game "Can't Stop" before and other push your luck games and this one was well received.

The table talk was brutal during this game. Lines like,

"Weeks is gonna run out of the mine like a little girl!"

"This is where we separate the men from the boys!" (When we are all deep in the mine)

"You don't have the stomach to keep going, pull out you pussy!"

One of my opponents would say one of the above lines and then pull out of the mine himself. HA!

Since "Raiders of the Lost Ark" is my favorite movie of all time I was obliged to at least try this game. But really the game is more in line with one of my other favorite movies, "Treasure of the Sierra Madre"

"Diamant" manages to capture the whole moral of the movie "Treasure of the Sierra Madre"

Are you satisfied with the treasure you have or do you keep digging for more at the risk of losing everything?

I purchased the 2nd edition game without the board which is really not needed. "Diamant" was co-designed by Bruno Faidutti. (The King of Chaos)

Bruno has a good track record with me as I like his game "Citadels" as well.

But I have to give Alan Moon credit. I enjoyed this game but it certainly does not seem something Moon would come up with. The game is too nasty for Moon.

My guess would be that Bruno did the bulk of the game and Moon's contribution was the board that was not needed. But I am just guessing.

For another "push your luck" (and "kill his doods" ) game, check DUNGEONVILLE.

It's got bad ratings from euro fans. The game is pretty good.

Can't Stop was explained to me by a s euro Gamer friends as Zombie Flamethrower. Zombies race to the end to grab a flamethrower and decimate the entire column :D

I did much better once I re-aligned my perspective.

Alan Moon would (and has) make great games if he gave up on the the whole Euro thing. I've had a chance to play with him and he's a ton of fun. He loves descent and is as free wheeling and fun as any ATer I've ever played with. I'm sure he does'nt see the disticntion in types of games. To him a game is a game is a game.

Somewhere I have a picture of him with a foam pistol pressed to my temple. i'll try to find that and post it.

Wow. I've been playing Can't Stop for a while now, but thinking of it as zombies racing toward flame throwers make the game sound even more awesome. I think I should get some zombie figures to use with it...

I've got Incan Gold (the U.S. version of Diamant) and I enjoy it a lot. I do wish it had the little Indiana Jones meeples like Diamant though.
