SPARTACUS: BLOOD AND SAND

This shit is how you end a season of television and potentially a series if that's how it goes down.

All I'm say is that I want at least a 50 / 50 ratio.

I'm not into men, but I agree. The show should have full on man ass and rampant displays of cock and balls. I mean, if you're going to show Rome "as it really was" and do the full female nudity thing and plenty of thrusting and cock-talk, then just go all out and do it 100%. There was already more cock and balls than any other TV show I've ever seen, but it was still kind of restrained. Which is weird since the rest of the show is pretty unrestrained.

Still haven't finished the season...every time I turn on the 360 I get sidetracked into SSFIV...

I can't believe this is coming up. I was just talking about this last night with my girlfriend and I completely agree with you guys. Having all the man ass and cock and balls in the show along with the copious exploitative female nudity made the whole thing work a lot better---and it honestly could have used more of it on the male end. So funny you guys brought this up today.

Holy crap did you see the bitch fight scene at the end of episode 9. That was fraking awesome. Probably the best TV I've seen since the Sopranos went off the air.

I ended up really enjoying this show ... much to my surprise. I jetted through all 13 episodes in three nights thanks to the magic of Netflix's play-on-demand thingie, and I was left with that "I wish there was more" feeling that only comes with good television.

And, as others have mentioned, that is how you end a season. Really, I thought 80 to 90 percent of the season was very solid. The beginning was a bit rough and the whole absurd "ohhhhh, look how dark we can be with our underworld fighting!" thing was head-slappingly stupid, but those were the exceptions.

It looks like season 2 has been derailed, though. On a purely selfish level (the star having cancer being more important, of course), I hope the rumors of a Spartacus prequel turn out to be more than just rumors.

As I understand, a six-episode prequel is being filmed in Auckland, NZ, this winter (U.S. summer).
