Wow. There was just an earthquake in VA and we felt it all the way up here in Hartford. Our whole building lurched.

Are all you Faties down there in VA, MD and DC okay?

In Richmond, VA. Everything seems a ok here.

At home sick today, just put some clothes in the drier, thought my drier was about to explode, turn it off and the house is still shaking. Having not been through earthquakes before, it took me a second to realize wtf was going on.

Pretty good rumble here in NYC. That was my first experience of an earthquake. Pretty wild!

Man, the mid-Atlantic is just getting fucked this week. Any tsunami risk? Hurricane Irene is bearing down too.

Apparently my kids are all sitting in the grass in front of their schools right now waiting for the buses to come.

I'm back at work where not much is getting done.

Felt it in Montreal. I was having a big diharrea at the time at work so I barely noticed.

Was a 5.9 I heard. That type of thing must be fun for Virginia miners.

The guys on the other side of my cubicle wall (same ones from my working with geeks post ) are trying to figure out if they can pull off closing a couple of temporary outage reports as "earthquake related" so they don't have to be researched. HA!

I'm over in Rhode Island and I didn't feel anything. Though a couple of friends I know said they felt some rumbles. Nothing major to report over here though...

Don't believe uba's earthquake cover story.

They were celebrating their wedding anniversary and the Earth moved!

They let the entire fucking federal government loose at once. The earthquake was about 40 seconds of "WTF is going on"--the commute home is now about to be 2.5 hours of walking-pace wall-to-wall traffic--and no working public transit--for a lot of folks. Fucking. Idiots.

But, in Chantilly, VA, it was a goodly rumble. I had a relatively painless run home after my meeting but am now touring the house to make a cursory check that there wasn't any damage to gutters, roof, deck or foundation. Nothing came off the shelves or walls [and we've got some seriously precarious balancing acts going on in some places], so I'm guessing I'm not going to find any further issues]

Richmond was pretty rumbly.

The crazy thing is the earthquake was a 5.9. The nearby nuke plant has safety features designed to protect the reactors up to a 6.0.

That's it?!

Hours away in DC, yes.

Louisa, VA got it the worst, but no fatalities. Still, there's a ton of property damage over there.
