This article will look at an individual scenario of Arkham Horror: The Card Game. These will be my impressions after playing through the scenario and will be focusing on the mechanics and how those reinforce the story elements of a given scenario. These articles will contain extensive spoilers and assume a familiarity with the terms and mechanics of the game. Please do not read on if you have not played the scenario in the title yet.

In addition, please note that this particular breakdown will include some fairly heavy implied spoilers for The Unspeakable Oath if you are reading these articles out of order.

It's been a long while since I last played this one (put in the wrong version The Organist, but still managed to win because my wife was running Akachi with upgraded Shrivelling and pulled nonsense good tokens), but I did want too say that this is the scenario that made me pay close attention to the art on locations. Even though locations generally start in play at the beginning of the game and don't leave until you're cleaning up the table, their art is often ignored as you're often only checking the shroud value and not shoving it up close to your face. It doesn't help, either, that the artists are painting wide panoramas and vistas that are crammed into a miniscule square, eliminating so much of the detail they created. Maybe it was the vivid use of purples and pinks, but this scenario's locations caught my eye, and I've been paying attention ever since. The byakhee against Notre Dame's Rose Window. The tentacles looming over the Gare d'Orsay. Just great stuff. Kind of an exceptional pack for art in general as I'm more than fond of Twin Suns and the agendas as well.
