I think it was normally in the $200 range, but everywhere is flogging it off for $85 to clear out stock obviously.

Google says only one outlet has it in the UK and ... suprise suprise suprise ... they are charging £179 (roughly $300+ US/CAN/AUS) - ripoff Britain strikes again.

And the Aussie retailer doesn't post overseas due to the weight of the damn thing.

Maybe you should get half a dozen of the buggers Frank, they may (will) be an investment.

I think most who don't already own the show and want to are waiting for bargain prices or BluRay so those sets may not be a good investment.

OK Frank, how good are these shot glasses and the wooden box etc... I found another Aussie supplier who can get it to the UK for $101, which is about £50 - but Amazon UK has popped up a preorder for the complete series boxset for £35 ... I'm a bit old these days for slammin' shots so they'll probably just be scenery with the odd use.

Just finished season 3.
Which fucking asshole told me it didn't end on a cliffhanger?

This is a good series. But not a great series. It's incredibly quotable and memorable but as a television series with a plot it isn't so good. I watched it religiously and enjoyed it.

My big problem with the show is that there is basically no payoff in any episode of Deadwood. Well, that's an exaggeration but it's close to true in my opinion. I suppose the first season has a little bit of payoff, but not much. It's like being serviced by a really beautiful woman but never being allowed to get off--every episode feels like it's building something up which is awesome but then you are continually disappointed when it never really ends up paying off.

I pretty much agree with this sentiment. I liked it because it felt historically accurate, the juxtaposition between the stiff rigidity of verbose, formal dialogue between men and women, or just respectable men in general, and the foul-mouthed, fuckingcocksuckerassholebullshit-edness of the talk between less reputable types, or even the respectable men in private struck me in particular. That felt really historically accurate and cool, whether it actually was or not.

Overall both Rome and Carnivale were far better shows, with Rome having a definitive conclusion, before its time imo, but at least not going past its prime and Carnivale unfortunate enough to be cancelled on a cliff-hanger, but worth the ride anyway. The visuals and setting of Carnivale alone are worth it.

As for the Poker set, if that's the whole series (three seasons) for $80 plus nifty bonus prizes, that's probably worth it because last time I saw them they were going for $60 separately.

They're only $18 over here, or $50 for the box set :side:.
