Yeah, they are quite literally nothing alike in terms of how they play. I would say the closest analog to Into The Breach is the XCOM games, although there is no RNG and I think that there are probably fewer mechanics to internalize in ItB.

I’ve scored 30k a few times. (Four islands in hard with no human/building casualties). However, I’m positive that I took some mech damage in those games.
The random enemy spawns convince me that nothing is altogether predetermined to be perfectly fair, if that makes any sense. The longer the game goes, the more powerful you need to get to keep up.

I don't know if the AI is deterministic or not, that would determine that. I will say it almost *always* has a solution every turn but not always one I can find that prevents all building damage.
