I can't believe it, I got my first "real" 1CC! I was bored and decided to play Magical Drop II. Five minutes later, I beat Black Pierrot. Like that. I spent months playing the game every day and couldn't do it and I now go and beat it completely effortlessly. It was probably a fluke, or the fact that by playing far worse I kept rank down but I still consider it an achivement.
Well, after sitting in the technical Alpha and Beta for over a year and barely playing, I finally started really playing Heroes of the Storm. I've never played DotA or other MOBAs and, in fact, I really kind of disliked Warcraft 3 for the fact that, even if I did put together the better army and have better micro than you, if you had the higher level heroes, I lost. Also, MOBAs strike me as the type of game that really require a solid group or team to really enjoy. Hopping into the queue with a bunch of random people and trying to get them to coordinate against another random group seems like a recipe for frustration.
Howevah, I've been playing a bit over the past few days and have really enjoyed it. I was usually a healer in WoW, so I've been gravitating toward Support heroes, but I've had a blast trying out some Warriors and Specialists, too. The roster of characters is pretty impressive for a new game and the diversity is great. There are some really unusual approaches to the standard health/mana/CD model. Also, I've been sticking strictly F2P and the gold acquisition has been rapid. I've only played a few hours and I could already pick up the cheapest warrior, Anub'urak. It drove me to Heroesfire to read up on strategy...
Honestly, I've been watching some streams of Heroes of the Storm, I've watched people play DOTA 2 as well. If I spent more time on my PC, I would definitely try it in a way I'd never play DOTA 2 and its arcane fucking item list.
Anyone else waiting to see what happens at E3 before deciding which console to buy? I haven't bought a current-gen console yet. I'm basically going to base my purchasing decision entirely on the press conferences next week.
If the Microsoft and Nintendo presentations are boring as hell, my default choice is to pick up a PS4. They have the most interesting library, the craziest Japanese stuff, plus, you know: Persona 5.
But, man. I love me some Halo. Maybe Halo 5 continues to look neat, and then Microsoft pulls something crazy and, I dunno, announces they're finally releasing a sequel to Crimson Skies? Then I'd have to tip the scale in Microsoft's favor. But, oh shit: maybe this is the year Nintendo finally unveils a new HD Metroid Prime game. Or maybe they do something incredibly unlikely, like announce Mother 4 or a direct follow-up to Earthbound (with NA localization), or, fuck--one of their partner studios has secretly been slaving away on a new StarTropics game, maybe one that's clearly indebted to Uncharted but with that intangible, timeless Nintendo feel. Obviously, I'd immediately pick up a Wii U.
Of course, everything in that last paragraph is a delusional fever dream, so the PS4's looking like the best bet. Bloodborne is fucking calling to my ass.

Motorik---PS4 exclusives save Bloodborne have been much less impressive overall. My own PS4 choice was primarily motivated by price in the pre-kinect debundle days and because, last year, PS4 had a consistent considerable advantage in visuals and performance. A lot of that has dissipated now, and Microsoft has grabbed themselves some nice exclusives.
I was just reading about Quantum Break and Scalebound, two Xbox exclusives that sound really cool. Plus: Halo.
This is a niche complaint but, for me, the main drawback to the Xbox is that it's much, much less likely to get kinds of bizarro Japanese titles/Atlus stuff/etc. for which I harbor a weakness. Another concern is: which console would function better as an all-around living room media center (which is, like, the only function of my 360 these days).
Darkest Dungeon (PC). HOLY FUCK is it good. My only regret is I wonder if I should have bought it while it's in early access (coming out late this year). Part of me doesn't want to waste the first experience with an unfinished game. Everything about it so spot on. You talk about something that evokes Cthulhu type shit, partially in the spirit it was actually intended... it's so hard, so grim, every fight is difficult and all your heroes, even your favorites, are *this* close to dying at all times. I just played it all evening, obviously.

I'm holding off on this one exactly because of the early access thing. I wait on all early access games. I know that my habits are that any game gets exactly one shot. I'm not the kind of person to go back multiple times, so I want that one shot to be the finished version.
Lego Jurassic World (PC). I got it for my boys to play together to coincide with the release of the new movie. It's solid, if not spectacular. The fact that you can control dinosaurs during some of the levels is clever, as are some of the characters' special powers (like the characters that can dive into a giant dung pile to find items), but I'm not a fan of the open world-style hubs between levels. All of the violence has been eliminated or toned down but they've managed to make it funny (like the T-Rex spitting up its previously eaten victims at the end of one level) so it's a net gain. Actual audio is used from the movies and I legitimately cracked up when Ian Malcolm's character was given over-exaggerated body language to coincide with Jeff Goldblum's dialogue from the film. My boys are nearly done with The Lost World's levels and they're champing at the bit to see the levels for 3 and 4 since you must play the movies in order, the game doesn't give you an option.
Got an old school HALO LAN going last night. Some people came and left at different times, but we had 13-14 people at its peak. We do this about once a year, and it holds up well. We were running one original Xbox and 3 360s. The original seemed to get noticeably better frame rate, the others feeling a little off. When we got down to 8 people, we eventually got 4 360s going and played some Gears of War 3.
Now I just need to figure out what to do with 70 cans of Mountain Dew.
Darkest Dungeon. I respect whomever above who is waiting but man, is it polished and good, I'm finally gaining some traction. Some of the character classes are bizarre and cool. I'll probably start a new thread.
I'll definitely be getting it when it's done. But I just got started in Dragon Age Inquisition in a full trilogy playthrough, and I've got Invisible Inc. that I'm plinking away at as another rogue-ish, so I'm good for a while.
